JOB PURPOSE:
The Graphic Designer will support the Communications Department by creating high-quality visual content that effectively communicates the organization’s messages, strengthens brand identity, and enhances stakeholder engagement
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A). Graphic Design and Visual Communication
- Design and produce high-quality communication materials, including graphics, infographics, brochures, social media content, and campaign assets and presentations, among others.
- Translate complex ideas, data, and technical information into clear, engaging visual formats
- Support the development and execution of communication campaigns through creative design solutions
- Ensure timely delivery of design outputs in line with organizational needs
B). Brand Management and Compliance
- Ensure consistent application of the organization’s brand guidelines across all materials
- Develop and maintain standardized templates for internal and external use
- Safeguard brand integrity across all communication channels and departments
C). Digital and Content Support
- Develop visual content for digital platforms, including social media, website, and email communications
- Collaborate with the Communications team to enhance audience engagement through visual storytelling
- Optimize designs for different platforms and audiences
D). Photography and Visual Documentation
- Provide professional photography support during key organizational events, field activities, and strategic engagements
- Ensure timely availability of high-quality visual content (same-day or within 24 hours where required)
- Support documentation of institutional milestones and activities through photography
- Maintain and organize a repository of visual assets for institutional use
- Reduce reliance on external vendors for routine photography needs
E). Collaboration and Internal Support
- Work closely with internal departments to understand communication needs and deliver appropriate design solutions.
- Provide creative input into communication strategies and campaigns.
- Support capacity building by guiding staff on basic brand and design standards.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, or a related field
- Minimum of 2–5 years of relevant professional experience in graphic design
- Proven portfolio demonstrating high-quality design work across print and digital platforms
- Experience in photography and visual content creation is required
- Experience working in a corporate, public sector, or development environment is an added advantage
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite – Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Canva)
- Strong understanding of visual storytelling, layout, typography, and branding
- Photography skills, including composition, lighting, and editing
- Ability to translate complex information into simple, engaging visuals
- Strong time management and ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
