Microhaem Scientifics Joins The 2026 Kabaka Birthday Run to Advance Hiv Awareness and Diagnosis

Microhaem Scientifics proudly participated in the 13th Annual Kabaka Birthday Run, a flagship initiative of the Kingdom of Buganda that continues to mobilize national and global efforts toward addressing critical public health challenges.

The 2026 Run was flagged off by His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II at Lubiri Palace, Mengo, under the theme: “Men for Good Health to Save the Girl Child and the Fight to End HIV/AIDS by 2030.”

This year’s theme underscores the vital role of male engagement in promoting health-seeking behavior, preventing new HIV infections, and protecting girls and young women, who remain disproportionately affected by HIV.

Microhaem Scientifics is honored to be part of this powerful platform and extends its sincere appreciation to His Majesty the Kabaka of Buganda for his continued leadership in championing public health causes.

In the lead up to the Run, the Microhaem Scientifics team was also officially recognized by the Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, during the Kabaka Birthday Run 2026 Partner Session, an acknowledgment of the company’s contribution to advancing healthcare outcomes in Uganda.

As both a participant and partner, Microhaem Scientifics joined other stakeholders in reinforcing a shared commitment to ending HIV/AIDS by 2030. This commitment is deeply embedded in the company’s mission to strengthen health systems through science, innovation, and local manufacturing.

At the core of this contribution is the MHS HIV 1/2 Kwiq Test Kit, a locally manufactured diagnostic solution now integrated into Uganda’s national HIV testing algorithm as the screening test. This milestone reflects a significant step forward in expanding access to timely, accurate, and quality-assured HIV diagnosis.

Early diagnosis remains one of the most critical pillars in the fight against HIV/AIDS. As awareness efforts continue to grow through platforms such as the Kabaka Birthday Run, Microhaem Scientifics emphasizes the importance of coupling awareness with access to reliable diagnostic tools.

The Kabaka Birthday Run has, over the years, addressed a range of public health priorities, including HIV/AIDS, sickle cell disease, and fistula, reinforcing its position as a key advocacy platform for health in Uganda.

Microhaem Scientifics remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting national and regional efforts to end HIV/AIDS through Made in Uganda solutions, strategic partnerships, and continuous investment in diagnostic innovation.

Together, through collective action, strengthened systems, and locally driven solutions, the goal of ending HIV/AIDS by 2030 is within reach.
