Equity Bank Uganda Board Committee Visits Microhaem to Explore Strategic Partnership and Healthcare Innovation

Microhaem Scientifics and Medical Supplies Ltd. today welcomed the Equity Bank Uganda Board Committee and senior leadership for a strategic visit to the company’s headquarters and manufacturing facilities. The delegation was led by Board Chair Henry Rugamba and Managing Director Gift Shoko.

The visit provided an opportunity for Microhaem’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Cedric Akwesigye, and the executive leadership team to present the company’s growth journey, long-term strategy, and vision for transforming healthcare through locally manufactured, high-quality in vitro diagnostic (IVD) solutions.

During the boardroom engagement, discussions focused on Microhaem’s investments in research and development, advanced manufacturing capabilities, quality management systems, regional market expansion, and its commitment to strengthening Africa’s health security through sustainable local production.

The delegation was also introduced to Microhaem’s expanding portfolio of diagnostic products, including rapid diagnostic tests for HIV and malaria, as well as sickle cell screening solutions. The product showcase highlighted the company’s role in reducing dependence on imports while improving access to affordable, quality-assured diagnostics across Uganda and the wider African region.

Following the presentation, the delegation toured Microhaem’s manufacturing facilities, where they observed the company’s production processes, quality assurance systems, and ongoing investments to scale manufacturing capacity in line with international standards.

Speaking after the engagement, Dr. Cedric Akwesigye emphasized the importance of strong financial and strategic partnerships in accelerating healthcare innovation.
