Job Description
The Head of Security is a senior-level executive responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive security programs to protect the organization’s people, physical assets, information systems, and reputation. Plays a critical role in ensuring the security and stability of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Security Program Development and Implementation:
- Develop and implement strategic security plans that align with the organization’s risk appetite and objectives.
- Design and implement policies, procedures, and standards to mitigate security risks and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks.
- Oversee the implementation of security technologies, including physical security systems, IT security infrastructure, and cybersecurity tools.
- Establish and maintain relationships with law enforcement, emergency responders, and other external security organizations.
2. Risk Assessment and Management:
- Conduct regular security risk assessments to identify, detect, evaluate and report potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Develop and implement risk management plans to mitigate identified risks and strengthen the organization’s security posture.
- Stay abreast of emerging security trends and threats to proactively adapt security measures.
3. Physical Security Management:
- Manage the security of physical facilities, including access control, perimeter security, and surveillance systems.
- Supervise security personnel, including security guards, patrol officers, and access control specialists.
- Ensure compliance with physical security policies and standards to protect employees, visitors, and assets.
4. Security Management:
- Implement and oversee security controls to protect the organization’s information systems and data.
- Foster a culture of cybersecurity awareness and education among employees.
- Collaborate with the IT department to address security vulnerabilities and incidents.
5. Incident Response and Management:
- Develop and implement incident response plans to manage security incidents effectively.
- Coordinate with law enforcement, external vendors, and other stakeholders during incident response efforts.
- Conduct post-incident investigations to identify root causes and improve security measures.
6. Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery:
- Ensure the organization has a comprehensive business continuity and disaster recovery plan in place.
- Test and evaluate business continuity and disaster recovery procedures regularly.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure a coordinated response to emergencies.
Qualifications:
- Diploma and or its equivalent
- Certificate in Security Management, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of progressive experience in senior-level security roles.
- Strong knowledge of physical security, IT security, risk assessment, and incident response.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
