Head of Security

Job Description

The Head of Security is a senior-level executive responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive security programs to protect the organization’s people, physical assets, information systems, and reputation. Plays a critical role in ensuring the security and stability of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Security Program Development and Implementation:

  • Develop and implement strategic security plans that align with the organization’s risk appetite and objectives.
  • Design and implement policies, procedures, and standards to mitigate security risks and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Oversee the implementation of security technologies, including physical security systems, IT security infrastructure, and cybersecurity tools.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with law enforcement, emergency responders, and other external security organizations.

2. Risk Assessment and Management:

  • Conduct regular security risk assessments to identify, detect, evaluate and report potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and implement risk management plans to mitigate identified risks and strengthen the organization’s security posture.
  • Stay abreast of emerging security trends and threats to proactively adapt security measures.

3. Physical Security Management:

  • Manage the security of physical facilities, including access control, perimeter security, and surveillance systems.
  • Supervise security personnel, including security guards, patrol officers, and access control specialists.
  • Ensure compliance with physical security policies and standards to protect employees, visitors, and assets.

4.  Security Management:

  • Implement and oversee security controls to protect the organization’s information systems and data.
  • Foster a culture of cybersecurity awareness and education among employees.
  • Collaborate with the IT department to address security vulnerabilities and incidents.

5. Incident Response and Management:

  • Develop and implement incident response plans to manage security incidents effectively.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement, external vendors, and other stakeholders during incident response efforts.
  • Conduct post-incident investigations to identify root causes and improve security measures.

6. Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery:

  • Ensure the organization has a comprehensive business continuity and disaster recovery plan in place.
  • Test and evaluate business continuity and disaster recovery procedures regularly.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure a coordinated response to emergencies.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma and or its equivalent
  • Certificate in Security Management, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in senior-level security roles.
  • Strong knowledge of physical security, IT security, risk assessment, and incident response.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
